SCHOLARSHIPS
The Swannanoa Gathering Youth Scholarship application period opens January 1 and ends April 1.
Swannanoa Gathering Youth Scholarships are open to those under the age of 22, during the week they are applying for.
The Swannanoa Gathering’s Youth Scholarship program covers the cost of tuition and housing in any of our programs for a number of promising young musicians and dancers each year. Priority will be given to those who have not received a scholarship before. Scholarships are merit-based, limited, and competitive.
Youth Scholarships are funded through the sales of Swannanoa Gathering branded merchandise, with 100% of our net proceeds going to fund the program. They are also funded by generous donations from participants, music organizations, and businesses. Current sponsors include the Austin Friends of Traditional Music, the Charlotte Folk Society, Green Grass Cloggers, Shepard Posse, and Tosco Music Parties. Several scholarships are awarded in memory of dear friends and long-time staff members, including Ralph Blizard, Tony Cuffe, Robert Dotson, Freyda Epstein, Regis Malady, and Al Petteway.
